[Rondel]: Anybody here ever read anything by Norman Spinrad? There's one of his books that I think might appeal to some of you folks -- the title is "Agent of Chaos", and it's an SF novel about the disruption of a static hegemony, not by the permanently unsuccessful opposition, but by opening it up, so that it is no longer a closed system. Seems pretty relevant to me, at least. Besides, I don't think I could pick a single favourite book if I tried. Or even a top 20-30.

[Rondel]: The title doesn't sound familiar, but then, that means nothing - my memory is weird that way, like a card catalogue where a nasty librarian sneaks in at night and steals a random assortment of cards out of the catalogue, putting back a random selection of those already stolen, while they're at it -- but not necessarily in the right place. So I know a lot more than I can remember on cue, at any given time. It can be very frustrating, that whole feeling of "it's on the tip of my tongue, but I can't find the word". Makes me terrible with names, unless they're integral to the thing named (like the title from a song where the title is also the first line of the chorus).

[Rondel]: There are lots of ways to represent Bush, though, apart from using his photograph. Anything from the symbolic approach I suggested, to a caricature, to a hand-drawn representation. So far as I know, the guards don't have a problem with any of those, they just enforce the rule that forbids the use of celebrity photos -- almost certainly because it's so difficult to find a celebrity photo that wouldn't violate the copyright laws, and even harder to prove that it doesn't violate copyright; so, as far as I can tell, the rule is there to keep the guards from having to spend an incredible amount of time dealing with each one individually.

[Rondel]: Besides, if you take the tack that "we can't have a Bush Haters Wiki without using a celebrity photo on our banner", they might just decide to ban the wiki itself. I don't want to see that happen.
